The Aarhus School of Architecture is a prime example of a reimagined learning environment that encourages creativity.

When the Aarhus School of Architecture decided to relocate, it was an opportunity to rethink how modern technology could be used to approach learning in new ways and integrate it into education. The aim was to create a flexible and dynamic learning environment that, in addition to lectures and teaching, could host exhibitions, debates, mini-concerts, and more.

In collaboration with the Aarhus School of Architecture and the A.P. Møller Foundation, Stouenborg has worked on the sound, lighting, and AV systems in the Auditorium, the multifunctional Didakteket space, and the school's nine Critique Rooms.

The Auditorium features a spectacular ultra-wide projection screen and a Meyer Sound Constellation sound system. With its unique "Voice Lift" feature, the system modifies the reverberation time, making it unnecessary to use microphones for speakers or audience members. The acoustics can also be adjusted so that the entire room is divided into listening zones, specifically tailored for group sessions around round tables. Additionally, the system can simulate different acoustic environments, allowing it to be used in teaching to help students understand the impact of acoustics on various types of spaces.

Separated only by folding doors is Didakteket, which functions as an independent space but can be combined with the Auditorium for larger events. Didakteket is a visual workspace that, with its fixed lighting rig, is also suitable for exhibitions. Screens can be lowered from all four walls, allowing for 360-degree presentations and visualizations.

All installations run on a shared network, providing endless possibilities for events across the spaces. All technology is controlled via Crestron touch panels, which are easy and intuitive to operate. To enhance user-friendliness, all Critique Rooms are uniformly equipped with built-in computers and AV for use in teaching and meetings.

Several of Stouenborg's specially designed products were used for the project, including an AV Table and projector noise boxes.
